Finca with view
Time for a change of perspective.
Are you drawn to the greenest of all the Canary Islands? The beautiful house MontyMar
at the foot of the San Antonio volcano is the ideal starting point for hikes, discoveries or a day at the beach - and a place of tranquillity.
The MontyMar house
My parents fell in love with the area on the southern tip of the island of La Palma in the early 1990s and created a little idyll there. The surroundings are rather barren and rugged, the views of the Atlantic are mesmerising.
The heart of the property is the garden. In addition to flowers and tropical trees, there are mangoes, physalis, macadamia nuts, pomegranates, medlars (nisperos), papayas, guavas, oranges and avocados. Our 100-year-old fig tree is bursting with fruit - be sure to enjoy it depending on the season!
The finca can be divided into two fully furnished apartments - the Finca and Casa Teneguia. Of course you can also rent the whole house. A washing machine is available.
The rental price for the entire house is 90 euros/day
For long-term rentals (4 weeks or more) we grant a 20 % discount.

The surrounding area
The municipality in the south of La Palma is called Fuencaliente, the house is located in the district of Los Quemados at approx. 360 m above sea level. In Los Canarios, 10 minutes away, you can go shopping, eat and drink a "cortado". Las Indias is a 15-minute walk away, where you can buy the essentials in the village store "Jennifer".
The best wine on the island comes from this area. In 10 minutes you are at the sea below, where the local beach La Zamora invites you to swim and you can enjoy fresh fish in the kiosk of the same name. The San Antonio and Teneguia volcanoes are the starting and finishing points for various hikes and discoveries.

La Palma
La Palma is the second youngest island in the Canary Islands archipelago. It belongs to the province of Tenerife. From the southern tip, you can see El Hierro, La Gomera and Tenerife with its striking Teide when visibility is good.
Standing there in the volcanic area, it is hard to imagine that Isla Bonita, as La Palma is affectionately known, is also the greenest of the Canary Islands. A trip to the north of the island will convince you of this. It is precisely this diversity and variety that makes the island a new experience time and time again.
The air is so clear that the "Observatorio Astronomico Internacional" is located on the highest mountain on the island, the Roque de los Muchachos.
But you have never seen a more beautiful starry sky from the terrace of the house!

Hiking
The network of hiking trails on La Palma is more than 1000 km long, with the Camino Real de la Costa alone measuring 211 km. You can discover the island in a very beautiful and, above all, very varied way on hiking trails. So pack your hiking boots!
There are hiking books with maps in the house. The internet is also helpful here:

Sea
We don't have a pool. We take the big one, it's nicer.
Beaches
There are several small beaches near the house on the southern tip of the island, the most beautiful of which is Playa Zamora Chica with a kiosk where you can watch the sunset with fresh fish and a glass of beer or wine. The small beach near the Faro and the salt pans is also worth a swim, as is the pitch-black Playa Enchentive with its hot spring, which is due to be inaugurated one day... we've been waiting years for it.
The most beautiful sandy beach on the island is Playa Nogales in the northeast (see also surfing). In the west near Puerto Naos, I like Charco Verde and Playa Guirres (with a great kiosk) the best.
If you're not in the mood for sand, head to the natural swimming pools La Fajana in Barlovento and/or Charco Azul in San Andrés y Sauces

Diving
Since 2020, there has also been diving scenters (Buceo Isla Bonita https://buceoislabonita.com/diving-la-palma and Punkfish https://www.punkfish-diving.com/index.html) in Los Canarios, where you can discover the underwater world on the Malpique house reef. Of course, you can also snorkel and see almost as much.
Surfing
There are several surfing beaches, especially Playa Nogales in the north-east of the island is popular with surfers.
STARS
Due to its location in clear air and the steeply sloping coast, La Palma has made a name for itself in the field of astronomy. The street lighting is yellow and is kept to a minimum to avoid light pollution. You can find out more at the following addresses:
